Song Hong SH Premium Lounge Hanoi Review (Priority Pass)

Worth Coming to Airport Early For: YES (30 mins – 1 hour)

Better Than The Terminal? YES

Introduction

After a fun 2 days in Hanoi (technically only one, with one of those exploring Halong Bay), it was time to head down to Da Nang on my Southeast Asia trip.

While Priority Pass general has limited usefulness in the US (although there are a few sweet spots), it’s extremely useful internationally, especially in Asia.

Overall, I found this lounge was a solid place to kill an hour, although wasn’t anything special to be honest.

In this post, you’ll find:

How to Access This Lounge

This lounge has complimentary access for priority pass members. I have my priority pass through my Amex platinum (see this post if you’re thinking about getting it). I simply presented my boarding pass and my membership QR code on my priority pass app on my phone, and was let into the lounge.

Lounge Entrance

This lounge is currently open from 4:30AM – 11:00PM, daily.

Where to Find This Lounge in the Airport

This lounge is located in Terminal 1 of Noi Bai International Airport, which is the domestic terminal. The domestic terminal entrance is definitely showing its age.

Noi Bai Airport Terminal 1

However, the Song Hong Lounge in terminal 1 is actually under partial renovation as of time of writing (May 2025). I actually struggled to find the lounge because of this, since the entrance was covered by all the temporary walls to the construction area.

The lounge can be found on the third floor, immediately after security. Interestingly, there were several bank-run lounges on this level. Did Amex / Chase / Cap One steal this idea from Vietnam?

The entrance when I visited was a narrow passageway behind the construction:

Lounge Tour & Amenities

The lounge is essentially one large room. This lounge features the standard faire:

  • Self – service buffet & bar
  • Bathrooms & shower
  • Mixed seating, tables, and outlets everywhere

Here’s some pictures of the lounge:

The buffet had a mix of western and Asian food, along with plenty of drinks. The espresso machine was out of service though, unfortunately.

The breakfast / lunch service had a mix of fruits and desert as well:

The lounge even had some (suspect) sushi:

And of course the bathroom is .. a standard bathroom. Nothing special:

Made-To-Order Pho Bar

The coolest feature of this lounge though, by a long shot, is the made-to-order pho bar. You could choose your style of noodles / broth / protein, and they’d make it to order. Pretty great for a contract priority pass lounge!

Good Plane Spotting

I’d say the coolest part about this lounge (other than the pho bar) is the great view of the runway at Noi Bai International and all the really cool planespotting available at the airport. There were tons of interesting short / mid haul heavies coming from Singapore / Taiwan / Korea in the short time I was there, and even a blank white 747:

Vietjet A321 and Singapore A350
EVA 777
Suspicious Incognito 747 – any ideas?

Conclusion

All in all, this was a good contract priority pass lounge. While this lounge is definitely starting to show its age a little bit, a new renovation next door is already underway.

The best parts of the lounge to me were (1) the pho bar and (2) really great views of the runway and unique plane spotting.

Next was a quick hop on Vietnam Airlines to Da Nang. I won’t review the flight (not much to talk about for a 1 hour flight), but it was fine. We were departing out of a remote gate, which is an annoyance I’m usually okay with because we get to check out more of the airport from the ground (avgeek heaven).

Next stop: hitting the beach at the Hyatt Regency Resort in Da Nang.
