Ottawa Hotel Review: Metcalfe Hotel by Gray Collection

Rating: 5/5 (great boutique hotel + great price to value)

Price Paid: ~$150/night

I visited Ottawa recently for work and was lucky enough to stay in the Metcalfe Hotel in downtown Ottawa. It’s hard to beat this hotel for the price and location – would definitely recommend it for work or leisure travel to anyone. I had a standard King room for my stay.

The hotel has a very modern feel. As soon as you walk in, the hotel’s restaurant, Cocotte, can be found on the right. I ate here once and it was pretty good but overpriced (as you’d expect).

Hotel lobby / restaurant

The lobby has lots of great seating and is set up as one big atrium with a skylight, with rooms surrounding all around.

The rooms are accessible via this very copper elevator:

One of my favorite parts about this hotel is the fact it has hardwood floors in rooms. I do not like carpeted hotel rooms, even if they are “cleaned” between guests.

Last but not least, great bathroom with cool classic vibes tiling:

The hotel also has a gym, which was a bit hard to find. You kind of have to walk through the emergency exit to get there, and the gym itself doesn’t really have much equipment. So if I had to nitpick, that’d be the one downside.

Overall though, hard to go wrong with the Metcalfe hotel whenever staying in Ottawa.
