Better Than The Terminal? YES.
United renovated their Club by Gate C74 in 2023, and they did an incredible job. This lounge is one of two available in United’s hub at EWR in Terminal C. While not as big and snazzy as the one by C123, this one is still a great option with good food, seating, and views all around.
This flight is accessible to Transcon / International Business Class Passengers, those with a United Club membership, or those with a united pass (subject to capacity constraints). I got in with a pass (thanks mom). There have been reports of people getting rejected with passes – I flew on a Monday morning and had no issues making it in.
The lounge is structured in a circle, right on top of the central food court in terminal C. Getting there is pretty easy; turn right after passing security, then keep walking a bit and you’ll find yourself at the footsteps of the lounge:

The lounge really shines for food and drink. It was 11am and I was flying for work, so no visits to the bar for me, but it looked quite nice.
Food-wise, the lounge had an awesome cold and hot options laid out:

I settled for some fruit (yum), the breakfast sandwich (yum), and the vegetarian wrap (yuck. ain’t it).

Last but not least, the bathrooms. Had to awkwardly wait for the bathroom to clear out to snap these but United did a great job with the design. Felt like a swanky hotel.
The entrance (exit) is also super nicely decorated. Felt like a West Elm or something.
All in all, had a great stay in the United Club EWR C74 before a quick hop up to Canada. Highly recommend this lounge for an hour or two to grab some food and enjoy runway views.
